2 April 2025 = Trump’s ‘Liberation Day’.

It seems that Trump is building a ‘Great Wall of America,’ similar to China’s Great Wall, to protect the nation from harmful products and persons (and ideas) from outside world.

While the intention is laudable, I fear the effect would be to isolate and stagnate the US, much as the Great Wall did for China.

In every nation, including US, China, and South Korea, battle the forces of nationalist closure and global openness. Openness proponents need to explain why openness ultimately strengthens our nation. https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/2025/03/29/republicans-trump-tariffs-trade-war
